Arizona Department of Education: Statewide Project

The Statewide Instructional Technology Project (SIT) is a Department of Education grant funded through Title IID. The focus of the SIT Project is to support academic achievement by helping teachers integrate technology into the curriculum they teach. Each county or cluster has a Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) who offers training and works directly with teachers in their classrooms. Each TIS works out of their counties' Educational Service Agency.

This project holds a strong belief that purchasing technology is not enough to promote significant educational change. Teachers need training and long-term support to effectively integrate technology into their curriculum leading to increased student achievement.

Project Goals 2009-2010

* Provide training and support service to assist public, charter, and private schools in acquiring standards-based, instructional technology integration practices for K-12 subject areas.

* Integrate IDEAL (Integrated Data to Enhance Arizona’s Learning) resources into professional development efforts.
